Rumor has it that the Sebasticook Chapter has a reputation among the judges who have
been here that they will attest to the friendly members that go the "extra mile" to ensure
that you and your dog have a great time and get the best opportunity to Prize.
We remind anyone coming to our clinics and tests to always bring rain gear, warm gear
and plenty of insect repellent and sunscreen as Maine's weather changes frequently.
Dogs must be on a leash when not training.
Our training clinics are lead by a great group of members that will take time to help you
with problems that you might be having. Our clinics start at 9:00 a.m. and end when
everyone has had a chance to work their dog.
The area abounds with seasonal camps and several close motels that welcome dogs,
for those that want accommodations of that type.
In March, the Chapter demonstrates our Versatile Hunting Dog training techniques at
area Sportsman shows at the Pine Tree State Sportsman Show at the Nichols Center in
Wilton and the Orono Sportsman Show at UMO in Orono.
Consider training or testing your dog with us. We hope you enjoy our website. For
questions, please feel free to contact one of the officers or myself.

Welcome to the Sebasticook Chapter of NAVHDA's (North American Versatile Hunting
Dog Association) website. Our Chapter events are held in Central Maine's Belgrade
Lakes Region, approximately 20 miles northwest of Augusta. We are easily reached via
I-95 off the Belgrade exit in Augusta.
Our Chapter was formed in the year 2000
and has maintained a membership of
nearly 100 members. We provide
scheduled Versatile Hunting Dog Training
Clinics to present training techniques to dog
owner's/handlers on how to use these
techniques to enable one to have a truly
versatile hunting companion. Pheasant,
Chukar Partridge, Bobwhite Quail and
Ducks are generally available for use at the
training clinics.
We hold two NAVHDA test weekends a year,
spring and fall. Dogs are tested for Natural
Ability (NA), Utility Preparatory Test (UPT)
and Utility (UT) levels. On test weekend,
meals are available and after the evening
dinner, we enjoy a fun-filled evening of
drawings for great prizes and the
camaraderie of fellow members and their
guests. Our Annual Shotgun Raffle drawing
is held on Test Weekend in the fall.
Primitive camping on the grounds is
available for free during test weekends and
meals are offered each day for a nominal
fee. Families are welcome at all events.
